The pricing for a tattoo can rely on many factors. is it a coverup or in need of heavy rework due to the fault of another artist? Will it take more than one session? Is the design or colors complex or simple? How large is the tattoo?
in general, my hourly tattoo rate is $200/hour. this price ensures that i’ll have enough to give a portion to shop for supplies, pay myself, pay taxes, and cover my overhead costs! I know some of you are thinking how expensive this may be! I do like to remind clients that tattoos are permanent and when they are done well and taken care of properly, they are an investment that can last you a lifetime! in the tattoo community there is a saying that goes “A good tattoo is not cheap and a cheap tattoo is not good”. this has been just as true for myself as it has been for my clients. invest in your art! Additionally, i have other payment methods available besides cash to make my tattoos more accessible. more about that below.
Price Chart
full day session (6+ Hours) $1200-$2000 half day session (4-5 hours) $800-$1000 Hourly rate and tattoo minimum is $200
on average, large areas like the thigh, outter and inner biceps, and sometimes more detailed & full-color pieces will take more than 1 session to complete! I am generally flexible with budgets and breaking up a tattoo over sessions if this is more financially feasible for the client (just obviously not in like, 30 minute appointments for large scale stuff)
There is a $200 non-refundable deposit required to set an appointment. this deposit goes towards the final cost of the tattoo but is forfeited if the client does not show or cancels their appointment last minute/is more than 30 mins late to their appointment without communicating with the artist/shop. - ***Please be advised: if you are booking for a guest spot or tattoo show, these prices may increase slightly to cover my travel expenses, booth fees, certificates needed depending on the location/distance of the show, etc***
Payment Options & Financing
Cool. so i know that sounds like a lot. tattoos are very much an expensive hobby when you are getting high quality work done. i myself know this all too well! i do try my best to be flexible for my clients, as i do want my work to be accessible to generally everyone.
because of this ,payment options are available for those interested in wearing my work! I do prefer cash - cash is king and will always be cheaper for both client and artist in the long run. however i do understand that cash is not always an option and i definitely do not discriminate! i also accept debit/credit card payments with options to tip on the card as well just be advised that there is a 4% surcharge to utilize this option due to credit card company processing & business fees.
In addition to card and cash options, my studio also offers a buy-now-pay-later service through our scheduling software, vagaro. it does not require a credit check or approval, however a bank account is required to utilize this option. If you would like to use this option, please include this in your message when you fill out the booking form & either myself or my assistant will send you the link to set it up prior to your appointment date.
I hope these options make tattoos a little more accessible to people from all walks of life. times are hard, but tattoos are forever! :)
